Shades State Park

Event Open to Everyone interested in the Geologic History of this Spectacular Site

Hike through deep canyons on rugged trails to see and discuss the regional Mississippian-Pennsylvanian unconformity and some spectacular cross bedding and other depositional features and weathering features in the Mansfield sandstone.  There is outstanding geomorphology related to the combination of long time erosion and more recent glacial melt water related erosion.

Saturday, April 13 meet at 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM at Shades SP at the Hickory Parking Lot. Park entry fee applies, Waivers will be signed before hike so arrive on time. Bring water, snacks and a sack lunch.
