On September 7th The Professional Geologists of Indiana will tour the Irving Materials Inc. Corydon quarry which has excellent exposures of the Mississippian aged St Louis, Ste. Genevieve and Paoli limestones of the Blue River Group and shales and sandstones of the lower West Baden Group. The quarry hill provides a wonderful panoramic view of the Crawford Upland and the heavily karstic Mitchell Plateau. The historic Town of Corydon is nearby as is Indiana Caverns, a commercial cave developed within a portion of the 46 mile long Binkley Cave System for those would like to extend their day.

This is a professional level multi-stop stratigraphy trip with limited attendance, and not intended to be a specimen collecting trip. Additionally, late arrivals and early departure will be difficult once we are in the quarry. ALL participants must have their own full personal protection equipment, including:
- protective footwear,
- long pants,
- hard hat,
- safety goggles, and
- a safety vest.
Please note the 9-9:30 am target arrival time and the mandatory safety meeting will start at 9:30.
